Roy “Rogelio” Romano was born in Puebla, Mexico & grew up with his grandparents & aunts. At the age of 20, he decided to move to the United States to better help his family by working hard at restaurants. Starting from the bottom he would wash dishes until he eventually moved up to cutting vegetables & then to becoming a cook. He soon became head cook of the restaurant all while working on his english.

After meeting his wife, he moved to a different restaurant & started working his way up from waiter again. The manager of the restaurant he was working at saw his passion for taking care of people & decided to make him a lead manager at a brand new restaurant here in Wausau. After 4 years, Roy decided to branch out & start his own, more authentic restaurant. That’s how Roy started El Tequila Salsa.
